This itinerary is perfect for keen walkers who want to explore the South Luangwa National Park on foot. Based mainly at the bush camps run by Norman Carr Safaris, you will start at the extremely remote Luwi Bush Camp then follow the course of the Luwi River to where it meets the Luangwa River at Mchenja, before turning north and passing through Mwamba Bush Camp before reaching Tafika for your final 2 nights. A treat for those looking to experience what made South Luangwa famous.
The cost quoted is at high season rate, per person based on two sharing a room, and includes internal flights, transfers, accommodation and activities, but is subject to change - please contact us for an exact quote.
Your expedition through South Luangwa Park begins at the incredibly remote Luwi Bush Camp. Expect an intimate, rustic setting with top quality guiding.
From Luwi you will be able to walk southwards following the course of the Luwi River as it flows to meet the Luangwa River. Nsolo continues the theme of charming small bush camps in a remote location.
Mchenja is a slightly larger bush camp on the banks of the Luangwa River. Again, you will walk from Nsolo to Mchenja. Game drives are an optional activity at this camp, so you may wish to get out in the 4x4 and tick some big game off your list!
You will travel north from Mchenja to Mwamba bush camp, a high quality camp with some great walking terrain around.
Tafika is the main lodge of Remote Africa Safaris and a great place to relax for your final two nights in the Luangwa Valley.
For most international flights you will need to take an overnight stop in Lusaka after flying in from South Luangwa. Pioneer Camp is comfortable and good value.
